Kosciuzsko Park Ride
NSW
Australia
If you like camping out you can experience this lovely part of Australia with our outfitter near Adaminaby. Experience the unsurpassed beauty of Kosciuszko National Park in the Snowy Mountains on horseback. The treks cover country that inspired Banjo Patterson's, "The Man From Snowy River". Ride the land of mountain horseman, brumbies, wildflowers and Alpine wilderness. Gaze from a mountain top at breathtaking alpine scenery with its rolling plains; fresh, cool mountain streams; and carpets of wildflowers. The area unchanged by time has a wealth of nature's treasures, hidden caves and valleys, and natural watering holes just waiting to be discovered by you. Experience the sheer delight of a dip in a crystal clear mountain stream only accessible on horseback, canter across the plains where wild bush horses roam, explore limestone caves and historic high country huts. Enjoy bush picnics, meals of mouth watering trout, steak and roasts cooked by camp oven, traditional damper and billy tea. At night sleep under the stars or in roomy tents contented and rested from your day in the high country. All rides explore the breathtaking scenery of the Kosciuzsko National Park. You will be taken to a stream where trout fishing is at its best - or visit a gold mine where fortunes have been won and lost. Treks through the northern part of the Park take you to places such as Cave Creek, Currango Plain, Tantangara Creek and Mount Tantangara (well known for the wild brumbies that frequent the area). A seven day trek usually covers a distance of around 160 kilometres (shorter treks are available). At the end of the day our four-wheel drive vehicles will meet you with all the gear for the overnight stay. Sitting pleasantly fatigued around the campfire you will share laughter and stories of the day's ride with your co-travellers. A warm hearty three-course meal is cooked for you, accompanied by freshly-made damper and washed down with mugs of billy tea. Your tasks are to sit back and do nothing but enjoy the relaxation and sense of physical wellbeing from a great day's ride in the magnificent Australian high country.

First and last night will be at the lodge and the other nights will be camping The homestead: Accommodation is lodge style (20 rooms) with each room accommodating from 2 to 6 people with shared bathroom facilities. Rooms are heated with all linen, bedding and electric blankets provided. A separate games and TV room is available. Mealtimes are happy, communal events served in the homestead straight from Roslyn's kitchen. Homemade soups and colonial roast lamb are their specialities, while Snowy Mountains trout provides a mouth-watering appetiser. As the lodge is not licensed you are free to bring your own wine for dinner. The Camps: At the end of the day our four-wheel drive vehicles will meet you with all the gear for the overnight stay. Tents are large 4 person tents - usually for 2 riders. We provide you with virtually everything you need for camping and riding, including mattresses, tents, hard hats and food. While you would normally bring your own clothing, wet weather gear, riding boots and sleeping bag, the Rudds can optionally supply you (at extra cost) with sleeping bags and oilskin coats.
